How to create email account in postfix mail server?
Ans :
Postfix configuration files are stored in “/etc/postfix”. The two main postfix configuration files are master.cf and main.cf, although we will only be dealing with main.cf here.
First we are going to make some additions or changes to the main.cf configuration file. The following lines should be added, edited or uncommented:
The following are the main configuration for the postfix which is in the file “/etc/postfix/main.cf”
myhostname = mail.example.com
mydomain = example.com
myorigin = $mydomain
inet_interfaces = all
mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost, $mydomain
mynetworks = 192.168.0.0/24, 127.0.0.0/8
relay_domains =
home_mailbox = Maildir/
If postfix mail server is already configure on your linux server and you want to create the new email account then you can do it by using following simple commands.
[root@office1 ~]adduser -s /sbin/nologin username;
[root@office1 ~]passwd username
Changing password for user username.
New UNIX password:
Enter the password twice and the email account is created. I have used “/sbin/nologin” in adduser command means the user cannot login locally to the server, mail users have no need to ever login to the mail server.
Once the acount is created then you can able to send/receive emails username@example.com
The emails is stored in “/home/username/Maildir/” directory.
Done.
In searching for sites related to web hosting and specifically comparison hosting linux plan web,
your site came up.
You are a very smart person!
Could have explained much more. Was not useful
A nice example, however the -s is ambiguous for adduser. It could be shorthand for shell or system.
I think what you meant to have is useradd. If you use that then there is no problem with -s.
Cheers.
Hi
1)Where i must set my icoming mail like: info@mydomain.com ?
2)Is it possible to read and reply to the incoming email without installing any other software in the server?
Thanks
